Cleaning and conditioning leather seats is important in order to maintain the comfort and elegance of the leather furniture. Since leather is expensive, prevent the fabric from getting cracking by consistently conditioning the fabric to support its elasticity and luster. The main ingredients found in store-bought leather cleaners and conditioners are found in kitchen and bathroom cabinets. This provides a cost-effective alternative to brand-name cleaners that often contain harsh chemicals.
1. Vacuum the leather seat to remove any crumbs or debris. Be sure to reach into the crevices and corners to thoroughly clean before applying cleaning solutions.
2. MIx one part rubbing alcohol with one part water. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle.
3. Spray the alcohol/water mixture on the leather fabric and wipe the area down with a lint-free cloth to remove any mold or mildew on the seat.
4. Mix one part vinegar with two parts raw linseed oil.
5. Dip any soft, lint-free cloth into the vinegar/linseed oil mixture and swirl on the leather fabric. Leave the mixture on the fabric overnight.
6. Buff the leather with a cloth for maximum shine.
